Bean Junction is committed to ensuring that beanjunction.coffee is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves a seamless online experience, and we continuously work to improve our website's accessibility.
Our Goal
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
What We've Done
We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility on our website:
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are accessible via keyboard, and a "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of each page.
- Screen reader support — Meaningful page titles, descriptive link text, proper heading hierarchy (H1–H3), and ARIA labels are used throughout the site.
- Colour contrast — Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Resizable text — All text can be resized up to 200% using browser settings without loss of content or functionality.
- Form accessibility — All form fields have associated labels, error messages are clearly identified, and required fields are marked.
- Images — Meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
- Focus indicators — Visible focus styles are maintained so keyboard users can always see which element is active.
- Responsive design — The site is fully responsive and functions on screens of all sizes, including mobile and tablet devices.
- No timed content — We do not use timed pop-ups or content that expires automatically, which can create barriers for users who need more time.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:
- Some older product images may not have fully descriptive alt text — we are reviewing and updating these.
- Third-party components (including Stripe's payment form) are outside our direct control but are provided by vendors with their own accessibility commitments.
Assistive Technologies
Our website has been tested with the following assistive technologies:
- NVDA screen reader (Windows)
- VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
- Keyboard-only navigation (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
- Browser zoom at 200%

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time task. We regularly audit our website, train our team on accessibility best practices, and incorporate accessibility requirements into all new development work. This statement will be updated as improvements are made.
